The Westie Waggin'
The Official Newsletter of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeast Texas
The WHWTCSET began our meeting year in February discussing what types of programs we would like to have this year. Our members this year should look forward to more activities involving our Westies, such as picnics and play dates; and we’ll also host a first aid session for our pets, and the ever popular Westie Fun Day.
In April, we participated in a Houston city-wide event, ‘Doggy Party on the Plaza’, to help promote the area’s purebreed rescue and general shelter programs. Despite this being our first year of participation, we proudly took 5th place in the parade with our float, which included our Westies dressed up in hats and bandanas. There was also a costume contest in which our club Vice President earned second place! Fun was had by all and we plan to make this an annual group activity. | Our Specialty Show and Sweepstakes was a great success. Thank you to our judges: Specialty show judge, Mr. Clay Coady and Sweepstakes judge, Ms. Donna Hegstrom. Also thank you to Ms. Anne Sanders, who presided over the Friday Sweepstakes hosted by the Houston Kennel Club.
Also, our Annual Dinner was held at a new location, The French Corner, located near Reliant Park. We had record attendance so we consider it a great success. We plan to return again next year. As always, our silent auction featured a variety of Westie-themed items for bidding. A lot of people came away happy with new stuff. Dues are Due! Please e-mail our Membership Chair for more information. |
