Earthdog tests offer breeders and owners an opportunity to measure their dog's natural hunting and working abilities. Using
rats (safely locked in a cage), dogs must find the quarry, then show an interest in catching it by digging, growling or barking
at it.
The earthdog program then progresses through gradual steps that require the dog to demonstrate that it is capable of "going
to ground" to work a quarry. The three levels of earthdog performance tests (with their respective titles) are Junior Earthdog
(JE), Senior Earthdog (SE), and Master Earthdog (ME).
