Brigitte Sclabas with Freestyle Dance Partner

GOTTA DANCE!

Brigitte Sclabas and her Poodles (Korben, Neo, Honeybee, and Vita), from standard to toy sizes, shared with us the joy of freestyle dancing at our January meeting. Brigitte competed in the first European Freestyle Competition held in her homeland of Switzerland. Several years ago, Brigitte and her husband moved to Houston where poodles and freestyle continue to be a passion for Brigitte. In canine freestyle, training, dedication, teamwork, music, and creativity all combine to create a unique performance. One of the reasons Brigitte enjoys freestyle is because it is a fun activity that she can share with her dogs (who obviously love to dance). Brigitte is associated with the Musical Dog Sport Association and is a freestyle instructor with the WestOak Dog Training Center at 9834 Spring Cypress Road in Houston, Texas.

 OUR THANKS!

A special thanks to club members Mary and Reed Brooks, who graciously hosted our January meeting in their home.

AKC Companion Animal Recovery - The American Kennel Club's Companion Animal Recovery (AKC-CAR) program helps to reunite lost pets with their owners. AKC-CAR provides 24-hour recovery services for microchipped and tattooed pets. All microchipped animals are eligible for enrollment in the CAR program, regardless of microchip brand. Although dogs make up the majority of the database, many cats, horses, birds, and other companion and exotic animals are enrolled.

The AKC-CAR toll-free number is provided on all CAR-issued collar tags and HomeAgain? Pocket Reader scanners. If the animal is not wearing any visible ID (i.e. collar tag, tattoo, etc.), it can be scanned at a shelter or participating veterinary clinic to determine if a microchip is present.

To report a lost or found animal, contact AKC-CAR by telephone 1-800-252-7894 (Press 1 for a Recovery Coordinator) or fax 1-919-233-1290. Please have the pet's microchip or tattoo identification number ready. For more information about the AKC-CAR program, visit the American Kennel Club website at www.akc.org.
