OUR ANNUAL WESTIE PARTY
December 11, 2005 - Bebe and Randy Pinter hosted our club's annual holiday party and it was a huge success.  The club provided turkey and ham, and everyone brought a side dish or dessert.  We had an enormous amount of food and it was all good!  Bebe had her home beautifully decorated with two Christmas trees, stunning place settings, and seasonal touches everywhere.  The hot homemade Wassail was the best!  This was a special party for us because we voted in three new club members:  Kitty Borah, Genie Landon, and Helene Wood.

The highlight of the party was the "Chinese" gift exchange.  Above, Greg Smith unwraps a gift he selected from under the tree.

WESTIE SAFETY
January 17, 2006 - Mary and Reed Brooks graciously agreed to host our January meeting at their home.  Paula Cohen gave a presentation on Westie safety, discussing ways to ensure our homes are Westie-proof.  In addition, Paula discussed car safety and the dangers lurking in our backyards and garages, such as antifreeze (a deadly fluid with a sweet taste to dogs).

In light of the very destructive hurricane season experienced by our surrounding area in 2005, and the forecast for another active hurricane season in 2006, Paula discussed the need for everyone to have a disaster plan for Westie safety.  If you need to evacuate, advance planning to ensure your Westies have a safe place to go is crucial.  Leaving pets behind may result in injury, loss, or worse.  A portable pet disaster supply kit should contain medications, medical records, food, water, and other essentials.  Remember: it is our responsibility to keep them safe!
